Working His Way Up
After Richard obtained his baking degree at Dunwoody Institute of Minneapolis in 1977, he opened a bakery in South Somerville, NJ.
He was the owner and chief baker of Richard’s Amwell Bakery for 6 years, at which point he moved to Manville, NJ to supervise the wholesale bread manufacturing facility of Somerset Bakery, followed by supervising the Aramark Inc. Basking Ridge department for 9 years.
After managing Salsons Bakery in Metuchen, NJ for 5 years and Old Dutch (later Irmark Foods) for 3 years, Richard moved back to Minneapolis where he became an Area Technical Services Manager for General Mills until 2008.

Richard is a family man and loves spending time with his two grandsons. His woodworking creations also keep him busy outside of his professional passion for baking.
His artistic abilities have earned him quite a few remarkable experiences. Richard once made dessert for George Bush Sr. and had the opportunity to make 24ft x 6ft holiday cakes to feed 3,000 people!
His most impressive baking accomplishments are eaten every day by customers of some of the largest commercial baking companies in the world.
His unique talent to create a wildly delicious dessert from conception to completion has earned him many rewards professionally and personally.
